All of our Augusta Golf packages can be combined with golf on great courses during the week of the major tournament or can be topped or tailed with a golf holiday at Kiawah Island, Reynolds Resort,  Pinehurst or any other American golf resort.

Augusta Based Packages

Augusta is a small city located two and a half hours drive from Atlanta. It is the home of world famous golfer Bobby Jones, who designed Augusta National Golf Club and co-founded The Masters® Tournament which is a source of great pride for Augusta residents who warmly welcome visitors from around the world every year. 

The week of The Masters® Tournament in Augusta is a community affair.  The school's Easter break is designed to co-inside the tournament and so many of the school teachers will spend the week driving shuttle buses, marshalling and generally helping out, whilst many of the college students will work in bars and hospitality facilities.

Many Augusta residents will also choose to rent out their houses for the week, providing themselves with some additional income whilst they go and enjoy a vacation until the madness subsides!

Reynolds Lake Oconee Based Packages

Reynolds Lake Oconee is a luxurious community situated half way between Atlanta and Augusta. It provides a choice of accommodation options with some of the finest golf courses in America. For clients looking to combine a location, high quality accommodation, brilliant golf courses and short commute to Augusta it takes some beating.

The pace of life at Reynolds Lake Oconee is slower than in Augusta or Columbia but it is a beautiful destination that has become extremely popular for our clients. 

Columbia Based Packages

Columbia is South Carolina's largest city and situated an hours drive Augusta. Columbia is best served by Charlotte Airport which has direct flights from Heathrow each day.

Columbia is a famous college town and for this reason you can find a great choice of lively bars and restaurants to enjoy during your stay. Sport is a major deal in Columbia with college football teams attracting a huge following.

A stay in Columbia can be combined with rounds of golf on good local courses or as a base for your Augusta Golf experience which can be combined with a wider holiday in America. 

Who Can Play in The Masters® Golf Tournament?

The Masters® Tournament is one of the four major championships in men's professional golf and is open to professional golfers, as well as to amateurs who meet certain criteria.

To be eligible to play in The Masters® , a professional golfer must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Be a winner of the Masters® Tournament
• Be a current or former champion of the other three major championships (U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and PGA Championship)
• Be a current or former winner of the Players Championship
• Be a golfer who has finished in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking at the end of the previous calendar year
• Be a golfer who has finished in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the Masters® Tournament
• Be a golfer who has won multiple PGA Tour events during the previous calendar year
• Be a golfer who has won a PGA Tour event that has a full-point allocation for the FedEx Cup, between the previous and current Masters® Tournaments.

In addition, amateurs who have not yet turned professional can also qualify for The Masters® by meeting certain criteria, such as winning the U.S. Amateur Championship or being ranked in the top 50 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking at the end of the previous calendar year.

Where is the Augusta National & How Do You Get There?

If you're traveling to Augusta National for the Masters® Tournament, the easiest way to get there is to fly into Augusta Regional Airport (AGS). However, this airport has limited commercial service and cannot be access by international flights.  Therefore you likely need to fly into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), which is the busiest airport in the world and is located about 150 miles (240 km) west of Augusta.

From Atlanta, you can either rent a car as part of your Masters® Package and drive to Augusta or take a shuttle service or use a private chauffeur service arranged by Tailormade Luxury Golf Holidays. The drive from Atlanta to Augusta takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.

If you're already in Augusta, you can take a taxi or ride-sharing service to the Augusta National. During the Masters® Tournament, there are also shuttle services available from various locations in Augusta to the Augusta National. However, due to the popularity of the tournament, transportation can be difficult and expensive to secure.

The History of The Masters®

The Masters® is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world and is held annually in Augusta, Georgia. The tournament was first played in 1934 and has been held at the Augusta National Golf Club ever since.

The Augusta National Golf Club was founded by Bobby Jones, a legendary golfer who had retired from the sport at the age of 28. Jones wanted to create a golf course that would challenge even the best players in the world and he enlisted the help of renowned golf course architect Alister MacKenzie to design the course.

The first Masters® tournament was held in March 1934 and was won by Horton Smith. The tournament was an immediate success and attracted the best players in the world. In 1935, Gene Sarazen made golf history by hitting "the shot heard 'round the world" when he made an albatross on the par-5 15th hole, which helped him win the tournament.

The Masters® quickly became one of the most prestigious tournaments in golf, with winners receiving a green jacket and a place in history alongside some of the greatest golfers of all time. Some of the most iconic moments in golf history have occurred at the Masters® , including Jack Nicklaus' historic victory in 1986 at the age of 46.

The Augusta National Golf Club has also undergone significant changes over the years. The course has been lengthened, bunkers have been added, and trees have been planted to make it more challenging. The club has also faced criticism for its lack of diversity, and in recent years has taken steps to address this issue.

Today, the Masters® remains one of the most important and prestigious golf tournaments in the world, with millions of viewers tuning in to watch each year.

How Has the Augusta National Developed Over the Years?

Augusta National Golf Club has undergone several significant developments and changes over the years, both in terms of its golf course and its facilities.

The club was founded in 1932 by legendary golfer Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. The course was designed by famous golf course architect Alister MacKenzie, and it opened for play in January 1933. Over the years, the course has undergone several redesigns and renovations, with the most significant changes made by club member Jack Nicklaus in the early 2000s. The course is now considered one of the most iconic and challenging in the world of golf.

Who Are The Members of The Augusta National?

The membership of the Augusta National Golf Club is private, and the club does not disclose its full membership list. However, it is known that the membership consists of a select group of wealthy and influential individuals from various industries, including business, politics, sports, and entertainment.

Over the years, the Augusta National has been criticized for its lack of diversity and exclusionary membership practices. As of 2021, the club had only admitted a small number of women and people of color as members.
